Channel 4 Thriller Utopia Cleared by Ofcom of Child Violence Investigation

utopiaControversial thriller Utopia which aired earlier this year on Channel 4 has been cleared of Child Violence claims.

The series about a group of people who find themselves in possession of a manuscript of a cult graphic novel rumoured to predict the worst disasters of the last century featured a shooting in a primary school amongst other violent scenes involving some of the young cast.

The investigation, which began in March, was knock on effect after  BBC2 drama Line of Duty broke child protection laws around its child actors.

Ofcom though has decided that Channel 4 and Kudos who created the Utopia had not violated the rights of its child actors.

Utopia stars Nathan Stewart Jarrett as one of the lead characters and will return early 2014 for  a second series.
